Aligning Vinyl Layers (A BETTER WAY)
When you have completed your graphics or design, before you export to your cut software, strategically place small 1/4" squares around various spots of your design. You will later use these squares as "registration marks". Import your design into your cut program and select all the registration squares. Use the group command so you will be able to select all of them at once on demand, rather that clicking each one individually. Now, as you cut each color of vinyl, make sure you select the squares to cut with each color as well. Be careful weeding the vinyl, making sure the suqares do not move or get lost. Now as you apply the vinyl to the substrate, you simple have to line up the squares one over the other as you go. Simply peel off when done.
Another trick that works well with this is to tear away the liner around the squares before applying to the substrate, this will allow you to see through the mask better to line up and "tack" in place.
