If you pick up an Entrepreneur magazine, flip the pages of a biography of a great business person, or even watch the program Sharks, you'll find inspiration from successful business people who overcame odds to make it big. Some may have had catastrophic events in their lives that caused them to pursue a particular course, while others simply chased their dreams to fulfillment.
In either case, they all kept a determined focus, the kind that nothing could deter, to stick to their course toward their goals.

For these successful business people, the key for them was to keep keeping on. They didn't waver from their steel-like resolutions. They didn't give up when faced with setbacks. They also did all that they could do to keep the momentum going.
Whenever a business leader ceases to learn or reduces his or her storehouse of knowledge, decline swiftly follows. In today's climate, change happens too quickly for businesses to forego learning. Unless leaders make a concerted effort to gather information and re-educate themselves, their businesses will suffer the negative momentum of ignorance.

Financial guru and motivational speaker, Dave Ramsey says that he took a billionaire to lunch one time to learn what it takes to become that wealthy. With pen in hand, Ramsey waited for the billionaire to spout words of wisdom. When Ramsey asked what the billionaire would do if he were Ramsey and wanted to become a billionaire, the wise gentleman responded, "There are really only two things: First, always be generous in your giving. Second, read The Tortoise and the Hare. Every time I read that story, the tortoise always wins."
The key is momentum. Steady prodding without interruption, without giving up, and without excuses.

John Maxwell says that many business owners cling to past successes and traditions to the point that they imperil their organization. Some, enamored with a product, make decisions based on emotional attachments rather than sound judgment.
